5. Esplanade Park (by Jacelyn)

Built in 1943 on reclaimed land, the Esplanade Park is one of the oldest parks in Singapore. The seafront promenade was also known as Queen Elizabeth Walk to celebrate the coronation of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.

It was redeveloped in 1991 in order to enhance the identity of the Civic District, and it had been a popular spot for families, lovers, and even photographers as well.

Back in the early days, the Esplanade Park served to unite people through physical sports and other activities as it was the focal point of sporting activities in Singapore. Today, the park is a popular place for evening walks and social activities.

As the much celebrated Chinese New Year is approaching, we saw crews working hard under the hot sun, putting together decorations that are to be used during the eve of Chinese New Year celebrations...

Behind the Esplanade Park lies the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, Singapore’s premier arts complex. Also built on reclaimed land, this high-class landmark location holds arts and cultural events, and this symbolises a new milestone in the arts scene of Singapore.

The Esplanade Park is located at Connaught Drive, opposite City Hall and the Supreme Court.

Before we left the park, one of us (I think it was Leonard) suggested this pose. Does it remind you of someone from our class?? *heez*
